A taste of adventure, as well as a taste of the British Army ration pack was on offer as Dorcan Detachment opened its doors for the first time last Wednesday evening. As well as tucking into some of the tasty meals on offer, the 48 new cadets who visited on the open evening got the chance to try out their camouflage skills.
Major Lee Bampfield, Area Commander for A Company which covers the Swindon area, said: “The cadets seemed to enjoy their first taste of the cadet experience, and all the parents were excited at the opportunities the cadets can offer.”
Over the next few weeks Dorcan Detachment is putting on more exciting activities, including a visit from the local Army Reserve unit. The new cadets will be learning some basic skills building up to the chance to go on some training weekends in November. There is still chance to join our newest cadets, so come along on Wednesday evenings to find out more or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for information on Dorcan Detachment or our other locations around Wiltshire.
