The safety and security of the young people in our care is of paramount importance to us.
Every adult volunteer is required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (or its equivalent from Disclosure Scotland in Scotland or Access Northern Ireland in Northern Ireland) and is subject to additional security checks before they can take sole charge or responsible leadership of cadets.
All adult volunteers working with cadets have a primary duty to safeguard cadets' moral, psychological and physical welfare (regardless of gender, religion, race, ability, disability, sexuality and social background) and to protect them from any form of physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect. To ensure that adult volunteers are equipped to safeguard the children in their care, they are required to complete thorough safeguarding training, as part of their induction training, and to attend compulsory annual update training.
In addition, we have a full-time Training Safety Advisor in every ACF county to ensure all our training is conducted as safely as possible, while still being exciting and challenging.
Any parent with a concern over safeguarding should contact their child's Detachment Commander (or, if that is not appropriate, the County Commandant). To get in touch with the Commandant at your local ACF county HQ, use the below details
