Cadet goes above and beyond in fundraising efforts.

3 December 2018

Cadet Lauren Faithfull from No.9 Worthing Detachment, Sussex Army Cadet Force has gone above and beyond in her fundraising efforts for the Royal British Legion this year.
She has raised an outstanding total of £1,022.85p during the year the nation marked the centenary of the end of World War 1.

Cdt Faithfull raised the money by hand crocheting poppy brooches, hairclips and keyrings which she has sold to members of the public, fellow students at school, to family and fellow cadet friends.

This is the 5th year that Cdt Faithfull has spent her time fundraising for the Royal British Legion managing to more than double her previous totals, with her exceptional work going towards completing the skill element of her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Every year she starts her crocheting during her summer holiday break; this year she managed to make 300 poppies in preparation, each taking approximately 6 minutes. However, demand was so high this year that whilst poppy selling in Chichester city centre, having run out of previously made poppies Cdt Faithfull decided to make poppies to order whilst taking time out from playing with the @Sussex ACF Corps of Drums.

Cadet Faithfull’s achievement is one that other cadets should aspire to, and shows the true value of how one individual’s selfless commitment can make such a difference to such a worthy cause.

We will continue to update you on the totals raised by all detachments in B Company this year.
