Addlestone Celebrates St Georges day with the Mayor of Runnymede

27 April 2018

On St Georges Day His Worship the Mayor of Runnymede visited Addlestone Detachment.

The Mayor of Runnymede for 2017-18 is Cllr Iftikhar Chaudhri.

Cllr Chaudhri is keen to attend many community events and be present in the local communities during his year as Mayor, so his visit to Surrey Army Cadets was appreciated by all of the detachment. He has a lot of community spirit, which fits very well with the ethos at Addlestone Army Cadets.

SI Steve Wells said of the visit “It went very well. The Mayor really loves cadet groups, and thinks they are doing valuable work in turning out decent kids. He talked to our cadets, saw fieldcraft lessons on cam and concealment, basha (shelter) building and cooking in the field. He complemented us all on the detachment, commitment and dedication to the cadets. He’s a really nice guy”

We look forward to seeing him again at another event in the local community.
