D-DAY 1...As the evening draws near it was time for the Surrey cadets to absorb all that they had learned today and reflect on those memories on those that fought and fell. In a very close way for one Cadet Francis(Chertsey Det) whose Great Gt Uncle took part in the landings and survived, so a wreath laying ceremony took place in their honour at Arromanches over Mulberry Harbour. For the cadets of Surrey this has been an extraordinary journey and of course something they will surely remember and reflect on in the years ahead.
D-DAY 2...And so a memorable event ends for Surrey cadets and D-DAY 75 draws to a close for us, but the memories will not. The Cadets ended the trip with drumhead ceremony and all respect was given in the best way cadets can...all together. Cadets from different counties gathered to end this remarkable achievement. So it's back on the road and back to the shores of England for our cadets. The trip was a masterful piece of planning and wouldn't have worked so well without the help and assistance of our adult staff, we would like to thank: Maj Brocklehurst(ANZIO OC), SMI Hylton(Farnham), SSI Arrow(Deepcut), PI Hosier(Farnham)and PI Plaster(Addlestone)
