CADET WELFARE TEAM

DEALING WITH THE WELFARE OF THE CADET

It has become a common feature now and more so with the introduction of social media, that the pressures that face a young person are more intense than normal. So as a result of this many young people do face an increase in the need for greater mental health support. All adult staff in the ACF are taught about all matters relating to safeguarding and the enforcement of rules to make cadets safe and above all happy. But with the pressures on young people come other issues, they can range from mental health issues to medical dependency, all be for a short time. Some young people battle with matters relating to gender, family changes etc but all of these matters need to be addressed and treated with respect and kindness.

We have now created a team led by the battalions Padre Capt Carol Monk to tackle these very issues, and we feel that we too are moving with the times and making all cadets feel safe happy and respected. All of our cadets must be in a good place in order to follow what we value in good standards and conduct.
