The Sound of Music

10 April 2017

What a week! When it comes to fun, no one does it better than the Army Cadets who attend the National Music Camp. With a packed week ahead of them, cadets from across 11th Signal & West Midlands Brigade once again attended Altcar Training Camp over the half term Easter holidays. With over 350 cadets from across the UK, it is clear to see why the popularity of music camp continues to grow each year. With a range of levels catered for on the camp, the level of commitment and talent is outstanding which only gets better as the week went on. CVQO where also on hand this week to help record the progression demonstrated, so that the cadets could gain their BTEC level 1 and 2, which offers a real life qualification to help them in later life. Throughout the week a steady number of visitors arrived on camp including the ACFA Chief Executive, Col Murdo Urquhart OBE who presented the cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) with prizes during the finial parade in front of hundreds of parents. One extremely happy CFAV was SI Sue Dunning, Staffordshire & West Midlands (NS) ACF who was awarded Best Adult Beginner Bugle. Regardless of your experience, if you would like to learn how to play a musical then why not speak to your County / Company music officer or why not have a look at for more details
