With effect from 1 May 2019 I have been appointed to lead Somerset Army Cadets as Commandant. As a former Deputy Commandant since 2015 I have the honour of continuing the previous Commandant's work and leading the Battalion into an exciting and challenging period of training and achievement.
I have been a member of Somerset Army Cadets since 1994 having been medically discharged from the Regular Army. I was commissioned into the Queen’s Regiment in 1987 after a period as a reservist. I have worked in numerous positions in Somerset Army Cadets over 25 years, from platoon commander to Deputy Commandant.
Currently I work in the healthcare sector as Chief Executive of able2achieve and am the founding trustee of a registered Charity supporting employment enterprises for people with learning disabilities and difficulties in the south west.
I am married to Louise and live in south Somerset and we have three children; the eldest, Oliver is commissioned into the Army Air Corps and currently a Wildcat Pilot at Yeovilton. Honor is a primary school teacher at Queen’s College in Taunton and also a Civilian Instructor with Somerset Army Cadets assisting with welfare at Annual Camps, while Henry is a Royal Marine, currently with 43 Commando in Scotland and aims to specialise as a Mountain Leader. All three have benefitted from being Army Cadets and I am committed in making sure that cadets receive quality and challenging training in a safe environment.
