Poppy Collection @ Newbury Racecourse

24 October 2016

Berkshire ACF Cadets from 14 Platoon, Newbury and 16 Platoon, Thatcham collected £6,900 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal during the Dubai Duty Free Day at Newbury Racecourse.  The 15 cadets worked in groups of three selling poppies and other merchandise.  Once filled, each collecting tin it was returned to the RBL office for counting.

2Lt Horn from Berkshire ACF said “I was approached on several occasions during the day by members of the public expressing how professional, polite and well-mannered all the Cadets had been on accepting donations and when walking around the race course.”

Each of the Cadets will receive individual certificates from the RBL showing the total amount that they collected on the day.  Events such as this contribute towards Cadet in the Community activities and this year is part of the #ACFRemambers Campaign across the Army Cadet Force.
