About Our County

Orkney’s Cadet Force is the only remaining unit to proudly wear the cap badge of the Lovat Scouts. Whilst we are now a youth organisation the cadets and adults of the Battery are proud to try and maintain the traditions and standards of the original Regiment, whilst also having fun! The Battery’s cadets have a reputation for being polite, hardworking and being willing to have a go at anything, perhaps reflecting their own and the Lovat Scouts heritage of having been drawn from the highlands and islands.

The Battery is also very involved in the teaching and playing of the Pipes and Drums. An extra night is available each week for music, and extra camps and training weekends are also available throughout the year. During 2013/14 the battery regularly had four cadets playing with the National Cadet Pipe and Drum Band.
