Abseil for Autism awareness!

SMI Gannon abseils from Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.

17 January 2019

Sergeant Major Instructor Paul Gannon, from Aintree Detachment, part of Sangin Company, Merseyside ACF took part in an abseil from Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, dressed as a Christmas Pudding!

The adult instructor did the abseil to help raise money for Autism Awareness, when asked what prompted him to do so he told us,

“Many young people are diagnosed with autism and I realised last year that I wasn’t that familiar with what autism was, I had heard about it, but I didn’t know much about it. I decided to find out more information and when I did it really opened my eyes about the condition. In August this year I did the abseil to raise awareness about autism and set up a justgiving page for donations. I am overwhelmed and delighted with the response I’ve had, I managed to raise £1,000 for the charity”

When asked if he would do it again

“Absolutely, but maybe not as a Christmas pudding next time, the costume was somewhat unfriendly for abseiling”
