Senior cadets from Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet force formed a team to compete in the second part of this years Exercise JERBOA competition, which was held in Norfolk.
Over the course of the weekend, which commenced on Friday 14th October, Regular Army soldiers from the Queens Dragoon Guards (QDG) gave the cadets valuable tuition to enhance their fieldcraft and shooting skills, as well as giving the opportunity for the cadets to ask questions and get their hands on equipment that regular and reserve soldiers use and train with on a day-to-day basis. From trying on the typical kit carried by soldiers, to getting their hands on new technology inside a patrol vehicle.
As well as gaining a valuable insight into weapons and equipment, the cadets went head-to-head against senior cadets from other counties. The competition itself included radio communication, section attacks, surviving in the field, 25 metre range and finally the obstacle course.
Exercise JERBOA, organised by 7th Infantry Brigade and hosted by LNR ACF is designed to inspire and challenge senior cadets across the Brigade, giving seniors the ultimate cadet experience. The weekend concluded with a final parade where Colonel Phil Watson from LNR ACF presented medals to the winning team.
