An Officer from F Squadron, LNR ACF will be taking part in tonights Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall which will be live on the BBC this evening.
2nd Lieutenant Lizzie Pincombe from Ibstock detachment is usually more comfortable in her MTP Uniform, but tonight will be representing the Royal British Legion as a Standard Bearer for the Castle Donington branch during the festival.
Lizzie explained; “I first found out about the Royal British Legion (RBL) through my involvement with them as a member of the Army Cadet Force. I joined my local branch in Castle Donington when I was 18 as my Grandfather was already a member there.
Earlier this year I was asked if I would like to enter a ‘Draw’ for the chance to present the Standard at the Royal Albert Hall during the Festival of Remembrance. When I received the email in August confirming that my name had been chosen and I was to represent the Castle Donington branch I was thrilled, especially as I am quite new to the RBL! We are now all at the Royal Albert Hall reheasing hard for the festival tonight.
It is such an honour to be a Standard Bearer, both as a member of the Legion and as an Officer in the Army Cadet Force; it allows me to give something back to the new generation of veterans who need our support, honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and gives me the opportunity to inspire and make more young people aware of the remembrance, the Legion and its work.”
The Festival of Remembrance will be live on BBC One at 9pm (21:00) tonight.
2Lt Lizzie Pincombe has recently completed the Cadet Force Commissioning Board, If you would like to know more about becoming a Commissioned Office in the Army Cadet Force, you can find out more HERE or by calling 0116 277 9701.
