Wrotham Detachment 100th Anniversary of Private William John Castle and Dedication of the Standard

19 March 2017

By Lt Keith Fuller, Detachment Commander Wrotham.

Op Reflect - Church Service for the 100th Anniversary of Private William John Castle and Dedication of the Detachment Standard, followed by the Graveside Service at Private Castle's Grave this morning - a very big thank you to the cadets who attended, I am extremely proud of everything you did.

It was a long service, but you all behaved brilliantly and played your part - do not underestimate the importance of just being present. Well done to cadet Munn for reading in church - loud and clear and at the suitable pace - it isn't easy and you did it so well. Cadets Chetter and Imms for taking the collection.

Well done to L/Cpl Green for carrying the standard with his escorts - Cadets Thompson and Munn. L/Cpl Curl played "I Vow to Thee My Country" on clarinet very well at the Graveside and Cadet Imms who laid the cross. Thanks also to the Drum Major for bugling Last Post and Reveille and also for creating the orders of service and writing the speech.

Our Standard has now been dedicated and is available to be paraded on appropriate occasions. Thanks to all the cadets who contributed to raising the funding to obtain it for the Detachment. Thank you and well done.
