Last week I attended a week long First Aid Training Development course at Holcombe Moor Training Centre. The course consisted of a First Aid at Work refresher, Level 3 First Responder Certificate and details regarding the new Medical Support Officer (MSO) role that is being bought into Brigade/County level. The First Responder certificate means that I can now take vital sign observations i.e. blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels etc. which will be particularly beneficial when on annual camp as there will no longer be any nurses. There was also an extensive amount of online coursework to be completed before and during the course, but the overall underpinning knowledge gained will really help with my first aid skills and teaching.
