Cadet Hamilton at Mascalls (Paddock Wood).
This is my great granddad George Edwards. He Served in the Royal Artillery across France and Germany.
He was aged 22 when WW2 started. He was a driver and when they pushed on to Berlin he had to transport and guard prisoners of war, and he had to guard up to 50 Germans by himself sometimes. He said that he never felt scared because, by then, the German soldiers had enough of fighting and just wanted the war to end.
