Scunthorpe Detachment does Poppy Appeal

17 November 2017

0845 on Saturday 11 November, Cadets and CFAV met in Scunthorpe Town Centre for the last collection event of the Royal British Legion in Scunthorpe. Traditionally the ACF do their collection on the Saturday before Remembrance Parade, and this year was a very busy year for the team.

While the main base was located in Southgate Mall manned by the CFAV, five small teams of cadets lead by a cadet over the age of 16 headed into the town centre.

Detachment Commander, Lt Vicki Brooks said “Poppy Appeal is a massive day for the Detachment, most of the cadets want to get involved and the town centre welcomes us every year. We always hope to raise a lot for the appeal and this year the tins seem as heavy as ever. My guys have done really well. A massive thank you to them and the people donating. The confirmed total raised - £2012."
