  • HSY holds its first Senior Cadet Conference

    Over the weekend of 28 February to 1 March, Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF held its first Senior Cadet Conference. The aim of the conference was to help develop new ways of building communication across the county and discuss ways in which the senior cadets can help the younger cadets in a mentoring capacity and with 15 Cadets in attendance it was a resounding success.

    On Saturday 15 February Major Troughton, Cdt CSM Dalo, Cdt SSgt O'Loughlin.O and Cdt SSgt O'Loughlin.T attended the Veterans Community Hub in Hull. Alongside the veterans, they welcomed 25 Dutch Cadets and their instructors from a school in Roermond.

    The Army Cadet Force (ACF) motto is ‘Inspire to Achieve’ and that’s what all cadets want to do. Achieve a rank, achieve a star level pass just to name two. We are inspired by our peers, our instructors to set aims and reach them… and as a young recruit, I set my sights on my career in the ACF. One step on the way through my career was to attend and pass my Senior Cadet Instructor Cadre (SCIC). Which I recently did.

  • HSY Women’s Conference

    On Saturday 2 November 2019, 30 CFAV and invited guests attended the very first Women’s Conference held by the County at the Cadet Training Centre in Driffield to celebrate 40 years of women in the ACF. The conference was brought together by the County Adjutant, Capt. Val Johnson, following a request for something to be put on in Humberside and South Yorkshire (HSY) to join in with this year’s celebrations, the to celebrate how far women have come over the years.

    Humberside & South Yorkshire Army Cadets were joined by fellow Cadets from Durham, Tyneside and Northumbria and a West Yorkshire Combined Cadet Force contingent for the very first Royal Artillery Cadet Insight Course (RACIC) at Stainton Camp by members and reserves of the Royal Artillery Regiment.

    One of the highlights of a cadets training, is Annual Camp. Normally reserved for 2 Star and above Training Cadets. But this year, Humberside and South Yorkshire added to the camp by taking our Junior Cadets along for a week.
