The Rorke's Drift Concert 2019

On the 140th Anniversary of one of the most famous battles of all time, over 100 Army Cadet Force Musicians, their Adult Instructors and Regular Army Musicians came together for the biggest concert in the ACF calendar!

17 March 2019

Well, what a spectacular night it was! The Band and Drums of Gwent and Powys ACF were joined on stage by friends from across the Army Cadet Force, including Derbyshire Army Cadet Force (Mercian Regiment), The Band and Corps of Drums of Lincolnshire ACF, Shropshire Army Cadet Force, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force Band and Oxfordshire Army Cadet Force. Cadets from Clwyd & Gwynedd Army Cadet Force also took to the stage to perform two amazing displays. The youngsters were lucky enough to be joined by members of Band of the Welsh Guards and the Bandmaster of The Countess of Wessex’s String Orchestra, who had spent weekend mentoring and supporting in preparation for the shared concert.
From the moment the first note of the opening piece, the resounding 'Men of Harlech', sounded, the sell out audience at Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon was hooked. The standard of playing was incredible, and the enthusiasm and skill with which the youngsters performed, proudly sporting the ceremonial tunics of the regiments they are badged to, was immense. If you weren't there, you certainly missed out on an incredibly entertaining evening!
A huge thank you to our compere, WO1 Adrian Beckett MBE, and all those who came to support. Why not join us next year?
