Over the weekend 12-14 April 2 cadets and 3 Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAV) attended The Exercise Baltic Guard selection weekend at Altcar Training Camp. The cadets hoping to be selected for the Exercise were Cadets Cpl Plant, Rusholme Detachment & Cpl Maybury, Hyde Detachment, No 3 (Somme) Company.

The cadets took part in a number of activities to assess their ability; Shooting on the Dismounted Close Combat Trainer (DCCT), 3 Star PT Assessment, APC Assessments, Command Tasks, First aid, presentations about themselves and drill. Lt Wayne Harrison & Lt Fiona Short attended in the hope to be selected for this years exchange.

Lt Emma Harrison attended to pass on her experience from attending the Ex Baltic Guard exchange last year in Latvia.

The Baltic Guard is an annual cadet exchange with cadets from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, run by the UK. The exchange was established in 2016 and is the Army Cadets main contribution to International Defence Engagement between the UK and the Baltic States. Each year 30 UK Army Cadets are invited to travel to the Baltic States over the summer. This year Ex Baltic Guard will take place from 22-26 July at Camp Kaunas in Lithuania, where the UK cadets will attend a one week camp during which they will be fully integrated with the Baltic Guard Cadets.

Ex Baltic Guard provides an outstanding opportunity for cadets to experience a range of challenging activities in a foreign environment. Only high calibre cadets are selected who will make the most of the opportunity and who will be positive ambassadors for the UK’s Cadet Forces.

At the end of the weekend both cadets and both staff from Greater Manchester ACF were advised that they were successful and now have a place on the Exercise Baltic Guard, Lithuania.

Well done to Cadet Cpl Plant, Cadet Cpl Maybury, Lt Wayne Harrison and Lt Fiona Short. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures on your return.

End.
