On Saturday 8 June Mayors and other distinguished guests from across Greater Manchester, visited Holcombe Moor Training Centre (HMTC). The visit was arranged by our Honorary Colonel Sharman Birtles DL, to introduce the Mayors for 2019/2020 to our great facility at HMTC; just as she did with the Mayors from across Greater Manchester at last years Annual Camp.
A short presentation was given by the Commandant, Colonel Dr Paul Irvine and the Hon Col Sharman Birtles before the Mayors were split down into three groups. Each of the three groups were then taken around the various stands put on by each of the five companies of Greater Manchester ACF. The Mayors were escorted around by senior cadets. All reported to have enjoyed chatting with the cadets about their cadet experience.
No 1 (Minden) Company - gave a short Fieldcraft Demonstration
No 2 (Kohima) Company - Command Tasks (team work)
No 3 (Somme) Company - First Aid Demonstration
No 4 (Korea) Company - Skill at Arms Demonstration
No 5 (Anzio) Company - this was their weekend camp so a lot was seen by the Mayors on their tour around HMTC
Greater Manchester ACF Corps of Drums - played for the Mayors
The Mayors were invited to lunch with the cadets where a couple of well deserved presentations/awards were made by the Honorary Colonel.
Cadet Staff Sergeant Emily Kershaw was presented with her Master Cadet Badge and Certificate.
The Deputy Commandant, Lt Col Catherine Harrison was presented with her second clasp for 24 years service to the Army Cadets.
A final speech was given by the Hon Colonel which included thanking the Mayors for attending and confirming how important the work and time the staff dedicate to the Army Cadets and spoke about how much the cadets get out of being a member of the cadets. Having had a tour of Holcombe Moor Training Camp the Mayors had also heard this for themselves.
A huge thank you to all the companies, including the Corps of Drums for putting on a great display of what we do in Greater Manchester ACF.
Thank you also to the following Mayors and other distinguished guests for attending:
