SSI Debbie Callaghan PRO, Greater Manchester ACF
Cadets & staff from No 4 (Korea) Company recently enjoyed a weekend in the Peak District. 28 cadets and 9 staff taking part in different activities. Some cadets took part in the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) expedition whilst the other cadets completed their one or two star expedition and navigation. SI Shaun Schofield was the DofE assessor who confirmed the cadets taking part in the DofE had completed and passed their expedition part of the award.
Whilst out on the hills around Bleaklow, the cadets passed the crash site of the Boeing RB-29 Superfortress “Over Exposed”. The wreckage covers a wide area and is a well known feature for hikers on the Pennine Way in the Peaks. The crash on the 3 November 1948 took 13 lives.
