SSI Debbie Callaghan, PRO Greater Manchester ACF and Rusholme Detachment Staff.
The staff from Rusholme Detachment, No 3 (Somme) Company, have been thinking of ways to engage with the cadets in order to continue with their learning whilst the detachments are all now closed. The idea was agreed upon that an Online Virtual Parade Night would take place. A fantastic idea and the first one for Greater Manchester ACF.
How did it all work? The detachment staff sent out links to the parents/carers emails for the cadets to log into a programme called Zoom. It’s similar to Skype and free to use. Monday evening and the staff were all logged in and waiting for the cadets to join, and join they did. The cadets were all able to engage with the detachment staff and each other. (How exciting) As this was the first night of many more to come the session mainly covered planning and setting tasks going forward.
The Detachment Commander said: “The cadets and the detachment staff will be continuing lessons every Monday evening until we are allowed off the sofa. #ImproviseAdaptOvercome.” A great description of what most of us will now be doing so a great idea from Rusholme Detachment in keeping the cadets busy and active.
In addition to the above the cadets are also being supported and encouraged to join the iDEA Award which is a fantastic learning tool for all. Click on the following link for more on the iDEA Award
