This year saw South East Sector reinstate an old tradition of holding a Sector wide "Families Day". At this event each company ran a stand and organised part of the day. The stands that the families were introduced to was Duke of Edinburgh award, First Aid, Weapons Training, Cadet Signals showcasing the new cadet radio system and fieldcraft.
The day also consisted of an Archery experience and the Annual Coldstream Guards sponsored Drill competition. Over the course of 3 hours a team from each company was put through their paces and turnout was inspected. Across the sector, the standard was incredibly high and all of the Company Commanders were proud of the representing teams. Colonel Des Smith our Commandant congratulated 94 Detachment who represented 9 Company and who retains the Coldstream Guards Drill competition trophy. 94 Detachment has won this competition for a number of years and have spent a lot of time practicing the routine. SSI Clarke (94 Detachment Commander) said " My guys pulled it out of the bag again this year and my 2IC SSI Brady has worked so hard with the team, all of their efforts have paid off.
Colonel Des Smith our Commandant congratulated the Sector on its hard work since taking up his
appointment. He also promoted 2 senior cadets to Cadet Colour Sgt and a Cadet Force Volunteer to the rank of Staff Sergeant Instructor. Sadly, Cadet RSM Laver took his final parade as Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major as he has come of age and is off to university after the summer. Taking up the post is Cadet RSM Perin, she will be leading the cadet NCO's for the next 18months and after camp will be touring the sector visiting detachments.
We all look forward to a successful Annual Camp at St Martins plain next month and a successful autumn programme.
