When hard work and high achievements are reached it is sometimes recognised with an award just to say ‘thank you’.
Gloucestershire Army Cadet Force, CEO, Major Alec Masson won the BAE Recognising Excellence award 2016 for Sports.
Maj Masson’s dedication to sports with the ACF has seen him take over 1200 Cadets skiing, over 85 Cadet receiving their England Sports Colours for representing England at Tug of War at County, Regional, National and international level and 250 Adult Instructors in Safe training for Tug of War.
Dedication and hard work has seen the England youth Tug of War team(all ACF) attend, 5 World championships, 11 European championships, winning 9 League(Boys) and 4 Leagues(Girls).
All his dedication has seen him being appointed to the England U18 Team manager for both boys and girls in April 2016.
This past weekend saw him attend a meeting in Retie, Belgium for the GENSB European Youth Tug of war events for 2017 representing England as one of the founding member countries.
Major Masson commented "this is totally unexpected, I do it for the love of Sports and this past weekend meeting with the fantastic wonderful GENSB family is a great honour. We hope to take Tug of War further and to more youth across Europe in the coming months taking the sport to new heights"
Major Masson is presented the award by Brigadier Matthew Lowe MBE, Deputy Commander Cadets, UK Regional Command HQ.
All team members for the England team are from the Army Cadet Force across England.
