Derbyshire Army Cadets from D Company present £1000 to Safe and Sound

Safe and Sound supports victims of sexual abuse and exploitation

22 February 2019

Cadets and adult volunteers from D Company raised funds for local charity Safe and Sound.

The cheque presentation was done by D Company Commanding Officer Major Palfreyman who said “I would like to thank each and every one of our staff for contributing to this fantastic amount, every penny will go towards making a difference to vulnerable young people in Derby and Derbyshire”. Safe and Sound is a local charity committed towards a world where children and young people are free from sexual abuse and exploitation.

Following this presentation D Company have chosen Queens Medical Centre as their next charity for this year. The target is to raise adequate funds to go towards the purchase of an IMRI scanner. A new IMRI scanner will enable children receiving treatment for brain tumours to have a scan during their operation; this will enable surgeons to see if they have removed the entire tumour before closing the wound. All children from Derby and Derbyshire needing this treatment attend the Queens Medical Centre.
