About Our County

About Us

Bristol ACF aims to develop young people physically and mentally, improving self-confidence, teamwork, friendship and leadership. We welcome cadets of all abilities and backgrounds and also aim to develop a sense of community in our cadets.

The ACF provides a wide diversity of fun, exciting and adventurous opportunities and it is a gateway to recognised vocational qualifications from the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to BTEC First Diplomas which can help in working and school life.

We also run courses in Adventure Training, such as Canoeing, Kayaking, Climbing and Skiing, as well as Sports events, Shooting competitions, Duke of Edinburgh expedition, First Aid training, and much, much more. If you have a special interest, or would be interested in trying something new, the ACF will help you to do it.

Our Detachments

Bristol ACF has detachments across the whole of the Bristol area, from Thornbury and Yate, all the way down to Cadbury Heath and Keynsham. We support over 380 cadets with the help of over 95 volunteer adult instructors. We also have a training centre in Pilning, which supports cadet events and weekend training.

The majority of our detachments are cap-badged to The Rifles, although we also have affiliations to the Royal Signals, Royal Logistics Corps, the REME, Royal Engineers and the Royal Tank Regiment.

Our detachments our divided into three companies:
A Company - 7 detachments in locations across the south of Bristol
B Company – B Company covers the largest geographical area of Bristol, with 7 detachments spread across the centre, north and west of the city
C Company – 6 detachments across the east of Bristol
