Peterborough-based Presentation Evening for Cadets and Adult Volunteers

23 April 2018

On Monday 16 April, the Army Reserve Centre on London Road, Fletton, Peterborough opened its doors to cadets, adult volunteers and their families to witness various awards being presented by one of our previous Commandants – Col (Retd) Derek Bristow OBE DL.

Following a brief introduction by Col Bristow of his past history within Cambridgeshire ACF we moved directly to the adults long-service awards for having served 12 years in the ACF. These went to UO Alan Stagg from St Neots Detachment and UO Marcellus Roberts from the Corps of Drums.

As we moved on to the cadet awards Imogen Naegeli, who needed to return to the Corps of Drums to play, received her BTec Level 2 Award for Music. This is the second time a Cambridgeshire cadet has achieved this award.

Then because it should have been the Corps of Drums parade night they provided us with a short medley of music. Following their retreat we moved to the remaining awards starting with the

4 star Army Proficiency Certificate (APC) certificates and badges for Sgt Connor Lytle (Walton Detachment) and Cpl Melissa Tyler (Ramsey Detachment).

Then followed seven CVQO BTec Level 2 Diplomas in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community awards for Jack Cridland (Cambourne Detachment), Max Davis (Haddenham Detachment), Sophie Hobbs (Walton Detachment), Travis Norman & Justinas Slicas (both Wisbech Detachment) and Darcie Tegerdine (Whittlesey Detachment).

The final act for the evening was awarding Cdt RSM Jacob Dunn (St Ives Detachment) fully into his appointment of Cdt RSM receiving his rank slide and pace stick from Col Bristow.

Afterwards everyone was invited to refreshments kindly provided by No 1 (Hereward) Company whose support for the evening was much appreciated during which time Col Bristow kindly agreed to stay longer so more photographs could be taken with cadets and in some cases their parents.
