Cambridgeshire ACF took part in the 2019 National Clay Shooting

25 June 2019

Championships at Cambridge Gun Club over the weekend 22/23 June 2019. The County entered three teams into this year’s competition, all Companies were represented and the County enjoyed a great weekend of Clay shooting with over 120 cadets taking part in all shooting disciplines. This year the County benefited from monthly Clay shooting training days organised by the Cambs ACF Adult Clay Team who assisted all cadets with skills and coaching.

All three teams performed well throughout the weekend and put in a very creditable performance in the team events of Sporting, Down the Line and the Flush disciplines

This year training has paid off as the County had some outstanding individual results that were as follows:

National Army Cadets High Gun - 1st LCpl Harris, Soham Detachment who was also placed third overall in the sporting discipline.

National Army Cadets Down the Line - 7th LCpl Else, Wisbech Detachment.

These outstanding results enabled both of these Cadet to be selected into the Army Cadet Force National Team to shoot in the Inter Services competition that was completed as the final two events of the day.

At the final parade and prize giving both LCpls Harris and Else were awarded their National Clay Shooting Colours by Lt Col Geernaert-Davies, the Army Cadet National Shooting Advisor - these awards were one of the highlights of a great weekend of Clay Shooting for Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force.

The County’s Adult Clay Shooters, as well as being Team Captains for all our teams, performed the duties of Clay Safety and Support Staff for the competition and did a great job throughout the weekend
