12 August 2017
Last night we dined in our new Honorary Colonel, Brigadier Tim Seal TD DL, who assumed the role in March earlier this year.
This morning cadets participated in the various inter-company competitions, including march and shoot and drill. We also welcomed visitors for the day that included some mayors and councillors from Cambridgeshire. Some of our senior cadets also, most competently, briefed the visitors.
This afternoon we had a most successful for cadets’ parents and families. The many varied stands and activities were all popular with both families and cadets. The afternoon concluded with a County Parade, Drumhead Service and Sunset Ceremony. Mr Richard Barnwell Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire took the salute. The parade, in which our Corps of Drums performed, was wholly commanded by the cadet RSM and the cadet CSMs.
This evening we have a final County parade for some additional presentations.
Throughout camp we have generally had good weather, but the cadets will remember the night and day of heavy rain on Annual Camp 2017. Tomorrow, of course, we depart from West Tofts and the planning for Annual Camp 2018 begins.
