Over the weekend, Waterbeach Cadet Training Centre was a hive of activity for adult training.
They arrived Friday evening for briefings and were assigned their different groups.
The groups composed of new adults on their Familiarisation course, Basic instructors course and NNAS (National Navigation Association) training course. The Familiarisation course is for new instructors and giving them a taste of ACF life, as well as taking part in teamwork tasks and producing presentations.
The basic instructors course is for new instructors who have been through the familiarisation and assessment. During the weekend, they had to show that they have a good understanding of how to produce a lesson plan as well as delivering the lesson. They also completed their red book tests which means they can now take part in detachment activities.
The NNAS course was for instructors to be able to teach navigation to cadets. There were some interesting activities they took part in as well as ideas on how to make navigation more interesting. Once the theory-based work had taken part they went to Milton County park where they took part in a small navigation exercise around the park.
The final course taking place was First Aid at Work. All instructors must complete this; where instructors learnt about breaks, burns as well as a new part which is the use of tourniques.
All of the courses went
really well and everyone enjoyed what they were taking part in.
