A Message From The Commandant

20 March 2020

Over the last few days we have shared critical information relating to the developing Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation via our Detachment/Company Facebook Pages and how it will effect the Army Cadet Force. So just to clarify:

Following Government guidance, it has been made clear that all non-essential travel and social contact should be minimised where possible.

In line with this guidance, and following consultation with MOD and across the Armed Forces Cadet community, all face-to-face Cadet parade nights, activities and events have been suspended from Tuesday, 17th March 2020 until further notice. This suspension applies to all Cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAV’S).

Although this is a difficult decision to have taken, we feel it is in the best interests of everyone involved with the Army’s cadets, and the safety of both our your people and adult volunteers is our first priority.

Government Advice

The Government's Coronavirus (COVID-19) webpage is frequently updated as events develop so please check it regularly at www.gov.uk/coronavirus.

Ongoing Support

We are planning to share activities for Cadets to do “Online” and at home with their parents, we will be communicating more about this as soon as we can.

In the meantime, Cadets and CFAV’s are urged to visit their Detachment and Company Facebook Pages and also watch out for any emails we may send. Data protection is an important part of safeguarding personal data so please ensure you follow the rules and don’t share your personal contact data with others.

Current policy

The following are current Cadet Force Policy that are not to be deviated from:

• Cadets are not to have the personal contact details of CFAVs.

• Cadets and CFAV's are not to be “friends” on social media.

However under policy Cadets and CFAV's can be members of closed Facebook groups where posts can be seen by everyone.

Detachment Commanders will already have cadet email address so they will use this along with their “armymail” email address if they need to communicate with Cadets and CFAV’s. Important specific info for CFAV’s will be send using an “armymail” address.

Future Cadet Activities

We are continuing to plan for the future including our annual camp etc so at the point when restrictions are lifted we can immediately pick up from where we left off in delivering the “Cadet Experience” to our Cadets.

In the meantime…………….. Stay Safe.
