Angus Area gets involved

4 Cadets from the Forfar Black Watch Detachment (Staff Sergeant Keith, Sergeant Kilcoyne, Lance Corporal Leslie and Cadet Bricknall) and 2 Lt Feltham (Angus Area Staff Officer) attended the Flag Raising Cerenomy in Forfar on Monday 20th June 2016.

The centre of the town came to a standstill during the ceremony to give thanks to armed forces personnel past and present. Past and present servicemen and women mustered behind the Town and County Hall and marched a short distance to the south side at The Cross.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Angus provost Helen Oswald and Lord Lieutenant Georgiana Osbourne who is the Queen’s representative in the county. Staff Sergeant Keith presenting the Armed Forces day flag to Provost of Angus Helen Oswald.

The flag was then passed to Sergeant Kilcoyne to raise above Town and County Halls in Forfar.

Once the ceremony was over, all guests including the cadets where invited back to the Canmore Room for Tea and Biscuits. The cadets from the Forfar Detachment are picture below behind the Armed Forces Day Flag.
