Wrexham Detachment Commander is recognised as one of the three Wrexham's Covid community champions by Wrexham MP Sarah Atherton.

James Heyward, the Wrexham Cadet Detachment Commander at Hightown Barracks, who continued the work of the Cadets throughout the pandemic and expanded the activities of the cadets to focus on mental health issues, and building confidence and resilience

Commenting on the work of all three throughout the pandemic, Ms. Atherton said: “I was blown away by the hard work all three put into their roles throughout the pandemic – Savannah, James, and Carys all showed a strong community spirit and sense of duty that I believe should be recognised, welcomed and most importantly celebrated. Well done to the three of you and thank you for all you have done!

James Heyward said “I’m truly privileged to receive this award I would like to thank my team for all the help and support, and say what a fantastic organisation the army cadet force is for young adults in the UK. Also thank you to all you cadets for all the hard work you did over zoom.”
