West (Waterloo) Company Commander promotes Bovington Cadets:

Company Commander Captain Julian Perry made his first two promotions last Monday from Cadets to Lance Corporals for two Bovington Cadets.

LCpl Ben Hall has been very active throughout 2020 with some sterling work with fundraising for Charity raising over £4000 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance as well as working towards his Bronze D of E award. He was also Dorset ACFs first recipient of the Commandant Cadets Coin.

LCpl Milly Bugler has also been busy knitting ear savers for the NHS as well as winning a competition for an NHS Poster which is now proudly displayed at Poole and Dorchester hospitals. She has also been working towards her Silver Duke of Edinburgh award having passed her Bronze 2020 Certificate of Achievement in lockdown.

West (Waterloo) Company takes ‘Virtual’ to a new level

Last Monday West Company were the first in Dorset ACF to run a Virtual Escape Room night.

Cadets were put into teams and were given a scenario and software to find clues and solve problems in order to find out which character had stolen secret information in the Virtual game.

it has proved so popular with cadets and adults alike that they will be running another in the near future.

Company 2IC Capt Wheatley said: “Keeping the training fresh and exciting is a challenge but one we relish. Thinking of innovative ways to keep the Cadets involved, we came up with a different take on team working and it proved to be a real hit.”
