Congratulations to our two new officers at Greater Manchester ACF.

2Lt Ian Mundey, No 1 (Minden) Company

2Lt Jess Pugh, No 3 (Somme) Company & Corps of Drums

Commandants congratulatory words -

“The Initial Officer Training (IOT) with Col Neil Jurd at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, will help you to develop as a leader. And of course, your individual leadership style is really important. This is not about you fitting into a mould. Every member of the Officers mess is very different, and I would encourage you to do that and find out your authentic leadership style. I have a quote from General MacArthur.

‘A leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions and the compassion to listen to the needs of others.’

If you can emulate those, if you can take care of the people that you are responsible for but make some courageous decisions as you need too. Most importantly remember the Greater Manchester directive which is about being a Force for Good. That is a really powerful phrase to take with you as you embark on these first steps as an Officer. Then you will succeed, and you will go on to great things and I hope you thoroughly enjoy the appointment as an officer in Greater Manchester ACF.

I congratulate and welcome you both."

Col Catherine Harrison,

Commandant - Greater Manchester ACF
