The Return to Training!
Lots of our detachments are back to face-to-face training now and it’s fantastic seeing everyone back together and getting stuck into team activities after such a long period of virtual sessions.
Why not give us a try?!
There has been a wealth of enthusiasm and excitement amongst both the cadets and the Adult Instructors, and a definite sense of anticipation of things to come!Cwrt-y-Gollen Detachment, also known as CYG, are based at our HQ just outside of Crickhowell, and are one of many groups taking advantage of following current protocols using their outdoor space. Teaching fieldcraft through virtual platforms has required Adults to thing outside the box a little, so it’s great to be able to get back to doing it for real! CYG Detachment spent their last parade night working through different types of fieldcraft movements in preparation for putting them into practice later in the year at Summer Camp. Under the watchful eye of senior cadets and adults, they had a ball practicing the Kitten Crawl, Leopard Crawl, Monkey Run and the Roll to Move both with and without a rifle, with the aim of becoming better at moving to a new position. They also tried out the Ghost Walk, which will enable the, to move more quietly in wooded areas. Let’s hope they don’t use these to sneak up on their parents!CYG have a few spaces opening up for new recruits, as do some of our other detachments. So, if you would like to find out more, why not get in touch? You never know, we could be just what you’re looking for!
