Target Sprint Shooting weekend

3 February 2022

  • Greater Manchester ACF

Capt Paul Anderton, County Shooting Officer & HQNW Brigade Advisor

Greater Manchester ACF will be running the first Target Sprint Shooting weekend at Holcombe Moor Training Centre over the weekend of 18th-20th March 2022.

This is the first time this event has been run within Greater Manchester ACF. Capt Paul Anderton and SSI Michele Maunder attended a Target Sprint Organisers Course held by GB Shooting to qualify them to run these events within the Cadet organisations.

Target Sprint closely mirrors the Winter Olympic sport of Bi-Athlon shooting. This involves cross-country skiing and rifle shooting as a race. It removes the skis and snow and we have Target Sprint - the UK version.

Competitors run several circuits, followed by shooting the Scorpion Air Rifle, whilst shooting at 5 knock down targets, before continuing to the next target. The fastest time wins.

This event is open to any Cadet that has a current weapon handling test on the Scorpion Air Rifle and can achieve a decent grouping shot. A refresher on the rifle can be done on arrival on the Friday.

Come along and have a try, there may be prizes for the winners.

The event is on Westminster now for bookings. Places are limited. Book early to secure a place. Please speak to your Detachment Commander for help in booking on the course.
