Major Mark Evans, Officer Commanding for E Company, sent us this:
“March 2020 saw E company, along with the nation, stand down due to COVID19. This left many Cadets and adults wondering how long the pandemic would stay for and what would happen to the ACF. 2020 saw my move across to E Company to become OC, and this was also going to be the start of a new adventure for the company. Virtual training kicked in, adults kept in touch via Zoom which was a new concept and no-one knew how it would progress.
So, in 2021 when the phased face to face training came back in, it was going to be a waiting game. We have been lucky enough to be able to attend our annual camp and it didn't disappoint. I was amazed to see the numbers that attended, how the Cadets settled in and their will to learn. E Company’s camp was a first with all detachment staff and Cadets working together.
As instructors, we were incredibly impressed with the Cadets and their enthusiasm, as in our eyes, as after near 18 months, the Cadets met their objectives, and on final parade, a number of awards for star levels were presented along with promotions to LCpl.
I was proud to be heading up and working with a great team, so, my thanks to all instructors, Cadets, and especially our county permanent staff who made this camp happen with all the background and frontline tasks.”
