Summer Camp 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians of Cumbria CadetsAs we begin to emerge from the Covid pandemic, our thoughts are turning to more positive activities for our Cadets and Adult Volunteers. We reopen for business at Detachment level with effect from today and all our Detachments will be opening for the first time in the coming weeks.

Details of days and times when they are open are available on our website. It will be continue to be a year of Cadet Return to Training like no other as we slowly find our way through the safety precautions required of us, making sure that all our Adults and Cadets are suitably protected and have completed the necessary refresher training.

Summer Camp will also look very different this year but is designed to be a week of ‘Fun, Friendship and Belonging’ where the focus will be on Adventurous Training of climbing, canoeing, ghyll scrambling as well as sport and some shooting on the ranges. There will be no charge for Summer Camp this year – it will be free for all Cadets – as we rebuild our Cadet Force numbers and attract new Cadets into the organisation.

The Camp will be a week of non-residential activities, doing activities and Adventurous Training from Detachment locations in Cumbria during the period of Saturday 24th – Friday 30th July 2021. We will finish activities by lunchtime on Friday 30th July for those older Cadets who need to dash off to Kendal Calling! We felt that parents would be reassured by not conducting a residential camp away from home this year, and we will slowly build up our numbers and our confidence again by doing a residential camp during half term in October.

Please put the dates in your diaries now and we will be asking Detachments to get an outline programme of activities to Cadets as soon as arrangements have been finalised. I hope that the Cadets are looking forward to the week as much as we are!
