Sergeant Major Instructor David Crocker

Lord-Lieutenants’ Award for Meritorious Service

Sergeant Major Instructor Dave Crocker joined the Army Cadet Force in October 2005 and joined Failsworth Detachment of No 2 (Kohima) Company, working his way up to Company Sergeant Major. He is now the Detachment Commander of Royton Detachment. He is always available to assist, going above and beyond to help others. For example, helping other companies by putting on displays of his impressive collection of badges of rank from all services and his antique weapons collection from different eras in history.

As a military historian he is able to teach the cadets about military history whilst ensuring the cadets enjoy the experience to see, feel and touch part of their history and gaining knowledge.

As a historian, Sergeant Major Instructor Dave Crocker was selected to be lead staff member for Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force to visit Gibraltar. This visit was for the benefit of some of our disadvantaged young people who had never been abroad. He was able to talk to the cadets about the history of Gibraltar and the connection to Great Britain. The visit was a huge success which led to a visit from Gibraltar cadets to stay at Holcombe Moor, the Headquarters of Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force.
