Sam appointed as new Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet

A local Army Cadet from Inverness has been given the honour to assist the Lord Lieutenant of Inverness-shire in their official duties as Her Majesty The Queen’s appointed representative to the area.

Cadet Sergeant Samuel Stubbs (17), from 1st Battalion The Highlanders’ Raigmore Detachment, was appointed to the yearlong appointment as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet of Inverness-shire.

Sgt Stubbs has been a member of the Army Cadet Force for almost 5 years and throughout that time he has taken advantage of the various opportunities available to cadets, from representing the Battalion in the Inter-Service Cadet Rifle Meeting at Bisley to even representing Scotland in Cross Country.

Following the presentation Major Alex Mezals, Inverness Company Commander said: “Samuel has demonstrated throughout his time in cadets to be a very enthusiastic and committed individual. He has excelled in many areas of the cadet experience such as Military Skills Competitions, shooting at Bisley and sports. He has also represented Scotland and the Battalion on a 7 week International leadership course in Canada back in 2019.”

The presentation, which took place on 4 August, was made by the Vice Lord Lieutenant Douglas Young at the Raigmore Detachment hall at Gordonville Road in front of Samuel’s fellow cadets. As Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet Samuel will attend events that Lord Lieutenant of Inverness attends in his capacity as Her Majesty The Queens Representative of the Inverness area.
