Padre’s thought for the week

Last Tuesday, I made pancakes and then successfully tossed one in the air and caught it in the pan! Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday in the Christian calendar, is the day before Lent, a period of fasting for 40 days. You kind of have a calorie, fat and sugar blow out before you give up something you like! For me, that’s cakes and biscuits. So how can giving up something you like make you a better person? Well, when you go back to whatever you gave up, you value it and enjoy it more. But more importantly, it helps develop personal self-discipline; not always having what you want and getting on with it is not a bad thing. And do you know what? 2 days in and I’m feeling good and I think my trousers are a little looser today!
