The company were delighted to host a special guest, Colonel Simon Worth OBE (Colonel of the Royal Tank Regiment) after meeting members of the 131 Battersea detachment, Colonel Worth presented Major Kaz Lorimer (Officer Commanding 13 Coy), TSM Notridge (13 Coy Training Sgt Major) and 2LT Bryant (131 Detachment Commander) with a certificate of Affiliation from the Royal British Legion, it is rare that an entire ACF company is affiliated but the company as a whole has raised thousands of pounds for the RBL through the Poppy Appeal.
It was fitting that the Colonel of the Royal Tank Regiment presented the certificate as the regiment have Freedom of the borough of Wandsworth in 2011 and a long connection to the home borough of 13 Company stretching back to 1916. In 1943, a Battalion of the Royal Tank Regiment (Cadets), based at Clapham Junction, started up a rugby club and they initially called themselves The Ironsides, soon changing it to Battersea Ironsides,
On the final parade of Annual Camp every member of 13 Company that was presented with their affiliation badge to add to their uniform.
We thank Colonel Worth for taking the time to visit and arranging a tank to visit us from the King Royal Hussars.
