Mold detachment recently had a special visit from Constable Phil Harrison of the North Wales Police Drone unit.
Phil himself used to be a Cadet and Adult instructor in Bournemouth many years ago.
Phil demonstrated to the cadets the drone flying and how the different cameras work.
Cadets learned how the drones are used to help search for missing people in a search and rescue role
Detachment Commander Barrie Reid reported “After Phil had set the drone up for flight we got to see the drone take off. Once up in the air we could see all of Mold at night seeing individual car number plates from well over a mile away. Later on, Phil showed us footage from actual incidents all the while answering the barrage of questions from the cadets. The evening was a unique experience for cadets to get up close to a specialist police unit.
Paul Terry the Drone Unit Supervisor said "it was a pleasure for Phil to demonstrate the drone unit’s capabilities to the cadets in Mold and we look forward to further visits to cadet units"
