You will have seen that we welcomed five new Sergeant Instructors into the ranks of Dorset ACF, well, this weekend also saw new Probationary Instructors who undertook their familiarisation at the start of May commencing their first weekend of induction training at the HQ of Dorset Army Cadet Force.

The weekend consisted of lessons and presentations on Cadet Training Safety Precautions and assessments on navigation along with Air Rifle training.

The primary role of a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer is to instruct the Cadets within the Detachments across the County, so the new PI’s finished the weekend with two presentations on Cadet Force Instructional Techniques.

Deputy Commandant Lt Col Andy Garrett said: "It was great to have a new cohort of PI’s join Dorset ACF and commence their training. With the lessons we have learned over the last year we have now adopted a blend of virtual training on weekday evenings and face-to-face weekend training."

Also on the weekend were more established PI’s whose training had been delayed due to the restriction’s the ACF has had to deal with due to COVID, but they have kept the faith and will are on track to finish their Induction Training this summer and be appointed as the next set of Sergeant Instructors.
