As one of her final duties before her term of office as Mayor comes to an end the Mayor of Rhyl, Councillor Ellie Chard, paid a final visit to Rhyl Detachment. The Mayor presented her Mayor’s Cadets with a certificate as a thank you for their support through what had been an unprecedented two-year term of office.

The Mayor presented certificates to L/Cpl Rhys Hattenboer and Sgt Lillie McCabe-Allen. The baton passes to the air cadets this year.

Councillor Chard said “I was delighted to be able to formally present my Honour Cadets from the Army Cadet Unit Cadet Rhys Hatenboer and Sgt. Lillie McCabe-Allen with their letters of commendation on 17th May 2021. When they took on their original roles back in June 2019 I never anticipated the opportunity to fulfill their duties would be interrupted by a global pandemic. In such an unprecedented year I was afforded the honor to serve a consecutive year as Mayor and this privilege also extended to my Honour Cadets serving from June 2019 through to May 2021. During the course of their appointment whilst accompanying myself in the office of Mayor at Civic events, they conducted themselves admirably and are deserving of my gratitude and respect. I wish them both well in all their future endeavors and career choices.”
