Marking the Centenary of the Royal British Legion

Events have taken place to mark the 100th birthday of the Royal British Legion. Whilst Wreaths were being laid at the Cenotaph in London to mark the exact moment it was formed a century ago at 09:00 BST events have also taken place in North Wales.

In Denbigh members of Denbigh Detachment were kindly invited by the town council to provide support in a service in the town centre. Sgt Mark Williams reports “due to current restrictions a small group from the detachment supported the service in true cadet fashion. Cadet Ryan Pendlebury, at short notice, assisted in the flag bearers role and Cpl Katie Vernon laid a wreath.”

Louise McCabe-Allen also reports from Rhyl “Despite the weather the service of commemoration place today at Rhyl Remembrance Gardens with two Rhyl Detachment members taking part. Cpl Ashton carried the standard and Sgt. McCabe-Allen laid the wreath on behalf of the ACF.”
