L/CPL JOLLY LEARNS SIGN LANGUAGE DURING LOCKDOWN

I have been learning British Sign Language for my DofE Bronze skill. The course is with british-sign.co.uk. It cost £25, although its is currently pay what you can, and takes 8-12 weeks doing about 2 hours a week.

I have found it a really good course as it is very engaging and as you are going through it, it is hard to stop and go back to revise as you just want to keep learning more.

For each sign there is a video which can be shown left or right handed and it can be slowed down, so this course will suit anyone. There is a small assessment at the end of each topic which I find really helpful as it lets you know where you are doing well and where you need to improve.

The course also teaches you about the community and ethics surrounding sign language as well as some different types of sign languages which really helps to gain an understanding of sign language rather than just the language itself.

Well done L/Cpl Jolly, something different to learn during the lockdown period and definitely something that will be very useful in the future whichever career path you choose.
