JCIC Training

Today marked the completion of Dorset ACF's first virtual JCIC, or Junior Cadet Instructors Cadre.

Captain Kerry Barker explains more about JCIC:

"The course qualifies 3* cadets to teach basic and 1* cadets. Most of the cadre have never having taught or presented to a group before so it's a big achievement for them. The course also contains elements of the induction training for adult instructors and we were joined by some new PIs who also did very well."

SI Sam Synak was teaching on his first JCIC and added "it was brilliant to see the confidence of the cadets increase from the first session where most wouldn't have their cameras on or talk and today they were teaching online".

The cadets will now need to pass an assessed practical lesson when the covid-19 situation allows before they are presented with their coveted red badge.

TSMI Salmon said of the PI training:

“This morning 3 of the County's adult volunteers joined cadets, on their the JCIC course, and delivered their 15 minute Cadet Force Instructional Techniques (CFIT) presentation as part of their journey to completing their PI Training.

“They were assessed by myself and it was great to see how well the PI's progressed through CFIT and had developed their instructional techniques skills despite all the challenges of online learning”
